Cr McMullin was elected to Council in November 2004 and served as Mayor for 2005 - 2006. Peter represents the Buckley ward, which includes Grovedale, Breamlea, Barwon Heads and the semi-rural areas to the southern boundaries of the City.
A resident of Barwon Heads, Cr McMullin has broad professional, civic and business experience - combined with a longstanding involvement in areas such as education, social welfare and the arts.

Cr McMullin is a lawyer with special experience in mediation, legal aid and State and Federal tribunals. He is a former Melbourne City Councillor having served as Deputy Lord Mayor and Chairman of the Finance and Planning Committees.
He is currently the Chairman of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and Deputy President of the Museums Board of Victoria and was until recently a member of the Local Government Commission and on the board of Victorian University of Technology. In 1999 Cr McMullin chaired a major inquiry into public education, and was Deputy Chair of the Centenary of Federation (Victoria) Committee.
He has a long association with organisations such as Philanthropy Australia, the Education Foundation, the Melbourne Community Foundation and the Victorian Employers Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Cr McMullin is also the Local Government Nominee to the Geelong Performing Arts Centre Trust, appointed in September 2007 for a two year period, ending 31 December 2009.
Cr McMullin holds the Council portfolio for Arts, Culture, and Heritage and represents the City on a number of committees including:
