Cr O'Connor represents the Coryule Ward, which covers the northern parts of the Bellarine Peninsula and includes the townships of Indented Head, Portarlington, Drysdale and Clifton Springs.
He is a past member of Drysdale Football Club as player, committee member and junior coach and past president of both the Bellarine Recreation Aquatic Community Centre project and Boroughcouttas Masters Swimming Club based in Portarlington.

Cr O'Connor is passionate about the environment, youth and developing opportunities for the community; holds Council's portfolio for Environment and the portfolio for Waste Management; and represents Council on committees and associations such as:
