At its meeting tonight, Council approved the allocation of $10,000 to fund the installation of a water pump at Anakie Reserve.

'It's simple', said Windermere Councillor Tony Ansett, 'the installation of a pump means Anakie Football Club now has a future'.

'The Anakie Reserve where they play AFL and cricket is getting so hard it's almost at the stage where it's unplayable', said Cr Ansett.

'But we're all working together. Barwon Water has authorised Anakie Football Club to use 2ML of untreated water to cart to two existing tanks so the ground can be irrigated, and Council will fund the installation of a pump,' said Cr Ansett.

Sport and Recreation Portfolio Councillor John Mitchell said the funding came from a $10,000 re-allocation from the Thomson Reserve Master Plan project.

'It's a great result and means Anakie can continue to host the 2008 football season, and cricket matches later in the year,' said Cr Mitchell.
