Upgrading of the Geelong West Library is now on track following a delay caused when undocumented footings were uncovered during the demolition stages of the project.
Cr Barbara Abley, who represents Brownbill Ward, said the discovery of the undocumented footings had made some remedial works necessary.
"Combined with another delay caused by some weather events in December, the project schedule was put back by approximately four weeks," she said.
"But the project is now tracking well, and is scheduled to be completed by the end of July," Cr Abley said.
She said the discovery of undocumented features was not uncommon in projects such as the library building's renovation.
"Because of the historical significance and strong local feeling for the former library building, great care is being taken to protect original features as they emerge during the works," Cr Abley said.
"We are going to considerable lengths to ensure that this important community asset again takes its place as one of the Geelong West's significant buildings, and has facilities worthy of the area," she said.
