Australian Early Development Index

The City of Greater Geelong is part of an exciting new national project that will help us understand how children in our area are developing.

The Federal Minister for Family & Community Services, Senator the Hon. Kay Patterson announced Geelong as one of eight Victorian sites to implement the Australian Early Development Index (AEDI) this year. The AEDI is a population measure of children's early development and has been design to provide helpful information for local communities in targeting future services and support for children, parents, schools and communities.

The Australian Early Development Index: Building Better Communities for Children project is being jointly developed by the Centre for Community Child Health (Melbourne) in partnership with the Telethon Institute for Child Health Research (Perth). It is an initiative of the Australian Government's National Agenda for Early Childhood and supported by a grant from Shell Australia.
