Drug & Alcohol Portfolio

Community Development Officer: Steve Levakis
The Community Development Worker with the Drug & Alcohol Portfolio is accountable to the Geelong Drug Action Plan Committee. The Committee is made up of members from various agencies, police and council. The Committee acts as an advisory group to council.
The role of the worker is to 
  • Oversee the aims and objectives of the Geelong Drug Action Plan
  • Act as secretariat to the Geelong Drug Action Plan Committee
  • Represent the Committee on relevant network meetings
  • Facilitate the Geelong Drug & Alcohol Network Forums
  • Respond to Community agency concerns/ideas regarding Drug and Alcohol issues

  • Point of reference from Council to provide resources and or support to the Geelong Public Housing Tenants Group
  • Maintaining network links and sharing of information with the volunteering sector in Geelong
  • Neighbourhood House support and overseeing Council funded project areas
  • Working around Diversity and supporting agencies and community groups which have Diversity in their agendas
