The Eastern Park and Geelong Botanic Gardens Plan is a three-part project aiming to shape the future direction and development of these two significant public open spaces of Geelong. Heritage Conservation Assessment
(identifies key heritage features for protection) The Heritage Conservation Assessment provides a history of Eastern Park and the Geelong Botanic Gardens, investigating the parks numerous environmental and cultural values to ensure that they are protected and further enhanced. Master Plan
(provides 50 year vision for Eastern Park and the Botanic Gardens and 10-20 year implementation plan) The Master Plan provides a detailed analysis of the existing condition and use of the parklands, a record of the various consultation processes undertaken and a summary of the issues identified. This information is used as the basis for the development of a vision statement and key design principles, which are articulated through a series of thirty-two individual actions for physical improvements within Eastern Park and the Geelong Botanic Gardens. Management Plan
(considers key park management issues for the future) The Management Plan has been prepared as a companion document to the Master Plan. It provides detailed recommendations for the implementation and ongoing management of existing and proposed features within Eastern Park and the Geelong Botanic Gardens. The Management Plan is effectively a series of individual management plans, addressing traffic, events and activities, wildlife, arboricultural conditions and the Geelong Botanic Gardens themselves. |
