Waste Management Future Directions Strategy

Waste Management is arguably the most critical essential service provided by the City of Greater Geelong. Failure to adequately provide this service would have serious implications for the physical and economic well being of all residents with similar impact on the local environment.

In the City's endeavours to at least maintain and preferably improve the collection, treatment and disposal of solid waste materials the City has developed its Waste Management Future Directions Strategy. This document establishes a forward planning approach to the waste services and infrastructure, particularly in light of the closure of the Corio Landfill site at the end of 2009 and the end of collection and waste treatment contracts for residential kerbside collection services mid 2010.

The Future Directions Strategy provides direction within the framework of the Victorian State Towards Zero Waste Strategy.
