We have all seen the success of household recycling, now its time to take that same approach and action into the work place. The Waste Wise Geelong Network is an exciting new partnership program that brings businesses together to learn how to be waste wise as well as acting as a catalyst to share information, knowledge and skills with other environmentally committed businesses. It creates an environmental movement in the Geelong region that will lead to a more sustainable and ‘low waste' Geelong.

The advantages of joining the network and becoming a waste wise business extend above and beyond reducing waste in the workplace. It will result in financial savings, increase staff morale and enthusiasm, provide opportunities for networking and the development of strategic partnerships, raise the profile of your business, assist in triple bottom line reporting, reduce the volume of waste going to landfill and publicly demonstrates to the Geelong community your commitment to the environment.

The project was launched in October 2004 and there is already over 50 businesses committed to the project. With a dedicated and talented support network, businesses work with each other, share ideas and knowledge and encourage the continuous improvement of reducing waste in the workplace and becoming Waste Wise Accredited, all while reducing environmental impacts to the land, air and water.

As the network grows and evolves, businesses will take a lead role in mentoring and assisting new businesses and network members to adopt waste wise practices and to join in the war against waste.
