Recently I reported a fault to Council in an urban area however I was informed that it is controlled by Vic Roads and not Council, why?
In and around Geelong there is what is known as the 'declared main road network' whereby Vic Roads maintain the road surface.
Examples of this are:
- Anakie Road - Lovely Banks
- McKillop Street - Geelong
- Murradoc Road - Drysdale
Other roads such as the Princess Highway and Ballarat Road are classed as State Highways therefore Vic Roads also maintain them.
It is the weekend and I have discovered that there is a problem with a Council Asset, which requires immediate attention, what do I do?
Council operates a 24hr per day after hours emergency service which may be contacted by phoning (03) 5227 0270. You will be advised if the item you are reporting is going to be attended to immediately or if it can wait until the next working day.
Most items that can wait until the next working day are those that are classed as not posing a hazard or direct risk to the public. Where there is a possible risk to the public or property, a Duty Officer will contact you and the matter will be dealt with.
