Signage - 50km/hr

This is a State Government (Vic Roads) initiative. Council's responsibility is to determine and erect signs to designate what roads are 60kph and above, and the location of these signs. This is done is accordance with guidelines set out by Vic Roads.

The State Highways (eg Princes Hwy , Hamilton Hwy, Midland Hwy , Bellarine Hwy , Surfcoast Hwy , McKillop St , Ormond Rd ) are VicRoads responsibility to assess and arrange additional signs

The primary objective of the new 50km/hr speed limit is to reduce the incidence and severity of road crashes on urban residential streets by reducing speeds on those streets.
