Club Self Help

The safety of community groups undertaking work on Council managed or owned land is of the highest importance to the City of Greater Geelong. It is recognised that community groups have the capacity to undertake certain works on behalf of their club or their organisation. The City of Greater Geelong is committed to ensuring that these works can be undertaken by community groups, however it also has a duty to ensure that a safe and healthy work environment is provided and maintained for all volunteers and tradesmen undertaking the proposed works. Further, as works on Council managed or owned land are publicly accessible, Council is required to take all reasonable care to ensure the safety of the end users and the general public.

Club Self Help

Council has a number of legal responsibilities in granting permission for works undertaken by Clubs on Council owned and managed land, the following flow chart has been designed to assist clubs understand the process in the development, approval and implementation of club self help projects.
