Momenta is a site driven work that marks the entrance to Geelong and acknowledges the particularities of the site.
Situated in the expansive grounds of Rippleside Park, 'Momenta' stands as an aquatic sentinel, welcoming visitors to Geelong's foreshore. Crafted from steel, this sculpture embodies rejuvenation and optimism for the Corio Bay community.

Inspired by the rhythmic ebb and flow of Corio Bay, 'Momenta' emerges from the ground, juxtaposing with the natural landscape. The form evokes fluidity using large geometric plates reconfigured to express movement. It invites the viewer to contemplate the ever-changing relationship with our coastal landscapes, reflecting the interplay of tide and time through light and shadow, strength and fragility.

Ancient, pre language mark making sits behind the artistic concept of the abstracted fish. The work speaks for itself as a piece of beauty, but also a sign, of the bay, maritime forms, the social and cultural histories associated with the fish in the bay and the importance of fish to the Rippleside location. Positioned where creeks meet the sea, the site is close to fish breeding grounds.  The bay beneath the site is historically a spot for fishing.  Inspired by the colours of the juvenile Red Snapper, the sculpture acknowledges the bay and the place.
