Part of Tastes of Greater Geelong 2026
Presented by Farm My School
Saturday 20 June

If you attended last year’s workshop, Cooking on Country — this is part two!
Discover how to grow and cook with native Indigenous plants, guided by deep knowledge, lived experience and a connection to land that goes far beyond the plate. Be prepared to get your taste buds fired up!
The immersive session will commence with a tour of Farm My School Bellarine led by CEO and co-founder James McLennan. James will also share insights into local Indigenous plants that are edible, the secrets to growing them, as well as Farm My School’s regenerative practices and resilient food system.
Participants will then move into the kitchen to prepare a dish under the guidance of celebrated chef, author, founder of Mabu Mabu and Farm My School Ambassador, Nornie Bero. A proud Torres Strait Islander from Mer Island, Nornie is passionate about educating people on cooking with Indigenous Australian ingredients. This engaging workshop offers a unique opportunity to connect with culture, Country and produce.
Participants are welcome to stay and enjoy their dish as part of a communal dining experience post-workshop, or take it home to savour.
