Municipal Heritage Strategy
Page last updated:
Council has commenced the development of a new heritage strategy for the City of Greater Geelong to replace the former 2017-21.
The initial phase of community input on perceived values and management issues occurred September - November 2024 through the City's online Have-Your-Say forum and through targeted consultation with a number of cultural groups from Traditional Owners through to postwar migrants youth and LGBTQIA+ heritage advocacy groups owners/developers and the City's advisory committees.
The input of the new Council is being obtained through the new Community Plan development process and the draft strategy will be released for public comment around November 2025.
For further updates please look at the Have Your Say pages.
A copy of the previous heritage strategy is attached here for information; it remains in effect until superseded by Council's endorsement of the new strategy.
