Returned Service Personnel Parking Permits

If you have served Australia in Active Military Service you may be eligible for a Returned Service Personnel Parking Permit.

Council has adopted a parking permit system to acknowledge the people who have served Australia in active military service in recognition of such service.

The parking permit waives any fees associated with parking in Central Geelong. The permit holder is still required to adhere to the applicable time limits.

Terms and conditions of operation

  1. A maximum of one permit per person will be issued.
  2. No fee will apply to Returned Service Personnel Parking Permit.
  3. All permits, when displayed, will provide exemption of payment of the prescribed parking fee.
  4. Parking time restrictions will apply to any permit holder.
  5. Permits are not valid in prohibited parking areas; that is: bus zones, no stopping areas or other parking prohibitions as specified in the Road Rules Victoria.
  6. Permits are valid for a three year period.
  7. The issue of a permit does not guarantee that a parking space will be available in any particular area.
  8. Permits issued under this scheme will be applicable to two registered vehicles owned by the permit holder or their spouse (provided the address is the same) whether that person is the driver or passenger.
  9. The permit must be displayed on the passenger side of the dashboard, where it can be clearly seen from the outside of the vehicle.
  10. Parking permits will be cancelled and withdrawn if deliberate abuses or misuse of the scheme is detected.
  11. To replace a lost or stolen permit, a Statutory Declaration or Police Report is required. Replacement fee applies.
  12. For replacements due to a change in vehicle registration, a replacement fee applies.
