Report unacceptable dog behaviour in public
Dog attacks
In the event of a dog attack on a person or animal please contact us immediately.
To help speed up the investigation process where possible please note the particulars of the attack including:
- time and date it occurred
- location
- Description of dog
- where the dog comes from
- extent of injury - retain any doctor's/veterinary reports
- witness details
- conversations with the owner.
The report will be allocated to one of our Animal Management Officers who will investigate the incident.
If you are concerned that an animal may attack another person or animal or is showing aggressive behaviour please make your concerns known to us.
Dangerous dogs
If your issue relates to a declared dangerous dog in a public area that is wearing a special red and yellow stripe collar that is not:
- secured to a property
- on a lead
- under control of an adult person.
Please avoid the dog and contact us as soon as possible.
Other dog behaviour in public issues
When you report worrying or concerning behaviour by dogs in public you will need to tell us:
what behaviour the dog displayed (for example: aggravating agitating or annoying; menacing or aggressive; rushing; etc)
where the behaviour took place - you may prefer to select the address by dragging the map marker
the breed or type of dog
