Changed Traffic Conditions - Around the Bay

The United Energy Around the Bay cycling event will be coming through Geelong again on Sunday 18 October 2026.

The event will have cyclists who are completing a 220km course traveling through Geelong as well as a starting point for cyclists completing the 135km event.

Poppy Kettle Park on Western Foreshore Road will be converted to an event site for the event, acting as a rest stop of the 220km course riders as well as the starting point for the 135km event.

To facilitate the safe conduct of this event the following roads will be closed;
Western Foreshore Road 4:30am to approximately 8:00am.

The 135km race begins at 6:30am, we expect between 6:30am-7:00am to be the busiest as riders clear the start line. Cyclists will be released in waves to minimise the congestion.

In addition, there will be a speed reduction and a one lane closure on the Princes Freeway from Melbourne to Geelong, between Sneydes Rd at the North Shore (C115) exit.
