About the artwork
This design tells the story of my journey and connections across various communities. It represents the different mobs and Countries I have lived in or have strong ties to ultimately leading me to the community of Djilang.
The artwork portrays the strength and support I have received from my family and community connections throughout my life. Each element in this design represents a specific part of my journey with plants symbolising the different regions and growth supported by those around me. It highlights the significance of community in shaping one's path.
About the artist
Chloe Wegener is a proud Garawa woman who grew up on Kaurna Country and currently resides on Wadawurrung Country. Chloe's artistic style embraces her deep connection to her Garawa heritage and draws inspiration from her surroundings. As an artist with synaesthesia Chloe is able to see and experience emotions and feelings visually through colour and design and creates her artwork as a means of self-expression and therapy. Each of her pieces' colours are chosen carefully to reflect the stories emotions and feelings they represent.
