About the artwork

This artwork is a representation of the inner workings of the mind coming to life in colour. The traditional U shapes represent people on Wadawurrung Country as they move around the tracks weaving back and forth across the land sharing their stories history and culture. The variety of different colours and shapes are used to illustrate diversity and the celebration of individual expression. 

About the artist

Jenna Oldaker is a contemporary Indigenous artist primarily focusing on visual art through painting. She predominantly utilizes acrylic paint on canvas resulting in brightly colored artwork. Known for her dedication to creating highly customized and unique pieces Jenna aims to weave stories with profound meanings while also educating others about Wadawurrung culture and Country. She collaborates closely with each individual ensuring a clear creative brief that incorporates their values and ideas alongside her own heritage and culture.
Her artistic inspiration stems largely from traditional marks and symbols from the Dreamtime and Wadawurrung Country itself. Before embarking on a new piece Jenna always takes the time to "just be" on Country tuning into the land and spirits. This connection and sense of responsibility to preserve and promote their culture and heritage for future generations are paramount to her.
