About the artwork

The lines in the sand in Country and Connection depict how intricately our mobs are connected to Country, and how this keeps them culturally and spiritually strong.
This piece was created by Lowell Hunter and his son Djamari and the collaboration highlights the importance of transferring knowledge and stories between generations.
This piece was created on Wadawurrung Country at Thirteenth Beach in Victoria.

About the artists

Lowell Hunter AKA Salty One is a Nyul Nyul saltwater man from the Kimberleys in Western Australia. He grew up on Gunditjmara country in Warrnambool and now lives on Wadawurrung country, Geelong. Lowell creates sand art and uses drone photography to capture the scale of his works within breathtaking landscapes.

Djamari Hunter is a proud Nyul Nyul and Dja Dja Wurrung teen from Geelong, Victoria. His passions include playing the Viola, being a volunteer firefighter and working alongside his father in cultural art. He currently attends high school and will be graduating in 2024.
