Willem Baa Niip 'King Billy' Mural

Cam Scale
81 Dennys Place (off Little Malop Street), Geelong

This mural artwork of Willem Baa Niip was created by Cam Scale and launched in August 2014.
Willem Baa Niip was a prominent male Wadawurrung figure in Geelong and district.

Wadawurrung people didn’t require written birth certificates. Their name was their identity, story of birth, place, connection and belonging. Willem Baa Niip was named by his father who believed he saw a Bunyip when hunting at Jerringot the morning Willem Baa Niip was born – Willem meaning home, and Bunyip meaning a mythical creature.
