With Practical Magic enjoying its own resurrection, witchcraft, botanical lore, folklore and the beautifully strange have once again crept into the cultural imagination.

On 9 January 2027, Geelong will welcome the Dark Market Expo, a new alternative and immersive event bringing together artists, makers, collectors, performers, food vendors and independent creatives for a day of curious craftsmanship and wonderfully wicked discoveries, workshops and demonstrations.

Drawing from the sepulchral romance of cabinets of curiosities, the arcane language of alchemy, gothic art, natural history and old-world apothecary traditions, the Dark Market Expo promises an altogether unconventional collection of wares. Original artwork, intricate jewellery, antique and vintage treasures, collectable objects, botanical creations, apothecary-inspired products, alternative fashion and painstakingly handcrafted pieces will inhabit the market, along with workshops and interactive activities.
