Geelong Coin Collectors' Club Coin and Banknote Workshops

This event will run a series of workshops across the day. People can attend one workshop or many.

Workshops will focus on:

  • How do I start?
  • I have a pile of coins. What do I do?
  • I collect all of the special coins in my change – are they worth anything?
  • Equal Ballot – how does this work?
  • Where can I buy coins?
  • I have coins and banknotes that I want to sell – where do I go?
  • How do I safely store currency?
  • Loose coins, Mint Sets, Proof Sets, Graded Coins, Uncirculated coins – what is the difference?
  • Recognition of Indigenous Australians and Torres Strait Islanders contributions to the history of Australia’s currency.
  • Key Decimal Australian coins and banknotes.
  • Key Pre-Decimal Australian coins and banknotes.
  • Cataloguing World coins.
  • Stewart Devil and his contribution to Australian Currency.
  • A focus on different values of currency and the collection of notes.

Opportunities to purchase coins, banknotes and accessories.
