Learn to make your own bespoke hand-held loom complete with woven artwork, using easy-to-find foraged and scavenged objects.

Participants will learn a simple method of making looms from foraged sticks, with guidance in weaving techniques such as plaiting, finger-knitting, and string-making to embellish their weavings. Get creative in finding your fibres and take home a finished piece.

Suitable for people of all ages. No experience required: perfect for beginners to weaving and textile crafts.

Bring: four sturdy sticks to become the base of your weaving.

Optional: any found or foraged fibres you wish to weave with, including yarns and ribbons, leaves and grasses, fabric scraps or old clothes, plastic and rubbish. Additional materials supplied.

This event is part of Platform Arts’ anniversary program, 30 Years of Platform Arts, running 22 October to 12 December.
