The in-ground lights along Moorabool Street, between Ryrie Street and Malop Street, are the City’s official light-up landmark, lighting up Geelong’s iconic palm-lined boulevard. The lights can be set to different colours and patterns to recognise significant local, national and international events. After dark, they help make the city centre feel more welcoming and vibrant, while also raising awareness, building community pride and celebrating occasions that matter to our community.

Eligibility

• Requests must recognise a community event, celebration, campaign or cause that has a connection to, or benefit for, the Greater Geelong community.
• We welcome requests from not-for-profit organisations, community groups, charities and organisations working in partnership with the City.
• Requests may have local, regional, national or international significance, provided there is a clear connection to the Greater Geelong community.
• Applications are reviewed in the order they are received.
• The minimum booking period is 1 day and the maximum is 7 days. Extensions may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
• The lights operate automatically from dusk to dawn. 
• The City may reserve dates for City-supported events and other significant occasions.
• Requested dates are subject to availability and operational requirements. The City may need to change booking dates where necessary.
• Applications must be submitted at least 3 weeks before the requested lighting date.
