Weaving Keepsakes and Kinship
24 September and 1 October

Join Wadawurrung mother and artist Nikki McKenzie for a special two-part weaving workshop that explores connection, memory, and care through making. Using traditional weaving techniques and non-traditional materials, participants will transform treasured baby clothes, blankets, and other fabric items into a meaningful keepsake that reflects their relationship with the children in their lives.
Held across two sessions, this workshop allows time to learn the weaving process and develop a finished piece with Nikki’s guidance. Participants will work with their own materials, and Nikki will provide advice on preparation and weaving techniques throughout the workshop.
This free workshop welcomes parents, carers, and children. Participants are required to bring along their own old baby clothes/blanket, etc
This event forms part of Collective Mothering, running 01 AUG to 04 OCT at Platform Arts.
Collective Mothering is supported by a City of Greater Geelong 2025-26 Creative Commissions Grant.
