3D model enhancements of Greater Geelong for public use
A $40 000 state government grant will be used to enhance our region's 3D model with the aim of improving the digital planning experience for the City’s planners architects developers and the broader community.
3D models allow users to better visualise understand and plan for proposed urban development population growth and environmental challenges in a more holistic in-depth way.
The grant will be used to add to key parts of the built environment across selected sites across Greater Geelong and will assist with how public spaces are designed and planned.
The higher quality digital models are critical for many parts of the planning process and help identify potential challenges and opportunities for development leading to more efficient and sustainable urban environments.
The new data will be available for the public to utilise on both the Geelong Data Exchange and through various Victorian Government data portals including DataVic.
The City was also successful in securing a $30 000 grant to improve online lodgement and tracking of planning permit applications and online engagement during public notification.
