City crews are joining forces to make sure the Bellarine’s main streets are looking their best ahead of the busy summer season.

City crews are joining forces to make sure the Bellarine’s main streets are looking their best ahead of the busy summer season.

Among the popular tourist spots on the works list are The Terrace in Ocean Grove, Newcombe Street in Portarlington, Murradoc Road in St Leonards, and High Street in Drysdale.

In addition to year-round maintenance, the Bellarine blitz is a concentrated annual effort to make sure the region’s busiest streets are sparkling ahead of summer.

The project brings together City Works crews with Parks and Natural Assets teams to deliver a coordinated clean-up across the peninsula so locals and visitors can enjoy safe, welcoming and vibrant town centres.

Crews are carrying out:

  • Parks team tackling weed control, mulching, and pruning.
  • Construction crews re-sheeting unsealed roads in Drysdale, St Leonards, Portarlington, and Swan Bay, with Marcus Hill, Curlewis, and Leopold scheduled before Christmas.
  • Maintenance crews scrubbing footpaths, street sweeping, removing graffiti, cleaning bins, and removing old stickers from City assets.
  • Tree Unit arborists trimming and maintaining trees along main streets for safety and streetscape appeal.

Clean, safe, and welcoming streets set the scene for locals, visitors, and businesses to enjoy the Bellarine at its best this summer.

By working together across departments, we’re ensuring the region is ready to welcome the many people who come here during the busy tourist season.

Murradoc Ward Councillor Rowan Story AM, RFD

As the locals well know, the Bellarine is a beautiful place and a favourite summer destination.

I have witnessed firsthand just how hard our crews have been working in St Leonards. It’s great to have many hands on deck – it’s about going the extra mile so that people are impressed when they arrive.

We want everyone to enjoy a safe and pleasant experience here.
