Belmont Dog Park will be temporarily closed from Monday 19 to Friday 23 February for resurfacing works and maintenance.

The decision to resurface the park follows a comprehensive community engagement initiative that was conducted to gather feedback on potential improvements to the park.

After careful consideration and analysis of community input, it was determined to replace the grass area with granitic gravel, a choice that aligns with sustainable operational requirements while maintaining accessibility for the community and their furry friends.

The works will also include some minor regrading to reduce the low point within the existing grass area and additional trees to provide shade to the future gravel area.

Acting Executive Director City Life Amanda Locke

We thank community members for their understanding of the necessary temporary closure.

The park attracts a lot of visitors, so this short-term closure will allow us to maintain the space without the ongoing need for lengthy closures of large areas.

Located under the Settlement Road Bridge on Barrabool Road, the Belmont Dog Park has become a popular destination for dog owners and their furry friends since its opening in June 2021.

The park features two separate areas within the fenced reserve - one for nervous or small dogs and another for active dogs, and features trails, seating, water fountains with water bowls and a dog training and obstacle area.
