City announces successful 2025-26 Community Equipment Grant recipients
The City of Greater Geelong has announced the successful applications for the latest round of Community Equipment Grants.
As part of the 2025-26 Community Grants, the Community Equipment Grants were offered as a standalone grant for the first time, helping community groups and non-profit organisations with small equipment purchases to promote better outcomes for the community.
A total of 86 applications were received by the closing date of 25 August 2025, where applicants could request up to $2,000.
The total funding requested by all applications was $153,544, while the total budget was $60,000.
As a result, 43 applications were successful, and 24 were fully funded, while 19 were partially funded.
Some of the successful applicants include:
- Northern Geelong Community Women’s Shed
- Geelong All-Abilities Sports Club
- Geelong Beekeeping Club
- Coastal Rowing Geelong
- Requests for defibrillators from the Geelong Archers, Geelong Pool Club, and Greek Elderly Club of Geelong.
All applications were carefully reviewed by members of the 2025-26 Community Assessment Panel, who considered them against policy, guidelines and specialist advice from City officers.
Mayor Stretch Kontelj OAM:
This round of grant funding was very popular, with 86 applications requesting a total of $153,544.
While these grants were for small equipment purchases, I know they will make a major impact for many organisations in our community who do great work.
I would also like to recognise and thank the Independent Community Assessment Panel for their work – as community volunteers, their insight and feedback is extremely valuable in this process.
Councillor Trent Sullivan:
There is extremely valuable information on our website at geelongaustralia.com.au/grants to help applicants get grant-ready.
While this announcement concludes all of the major grants for the current calendar year, I would advise interested people to subscribe to our e-newsletter to be the first to know about future opportunities, as our final three grants are opening very soon.
