The City of Greater Geelong will celebrate the 17th annual Geelong Children’s Week with more than 30 events for children and their parents to enjoy.

The 2022 edition of Geelong Children’s Week aligns with national Children’s Week celebrations which run from Saturday 22 through to Sunday 30th October, and recognises the talents, skills, achievements and rights of children.

This year’s theme, taken from Article 27 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, focuses on supporting the well-being and healthy development of children.

The week is designed to celebrate and promote the unique contributions that young children make to our community and focus community attention on the needs and issues associated with early childhood.

Events may change in line with COVID-19 restrictions; please check the program closer to the date.

In addition, further information on how to enjoy time in nature with children is available on our embrace the space page.

For assistance in viewing the program, please contact us during business hours by phone or email.

Mayor Peter Murrihy

I encourage families to take the opportunity to get involved in the many events on offer.

Where the previous couple of years forced our community into a combination of in-person and virtual events, 2022 has really opened up to allow families to re-engage and these events provide a fantastic opportunity for that.

Geelong Children’s Week is an excellent example of events that families can enjoy at no or low cost, while at the same time celebrating the rights of children.

The events provide opportunities for our children to thrive with their peers, and I encourage families to start booking events into their calendar.

Councillor Sarah Mansfield -Diversity, Inclusion and LGBTIQ+ Portfolio Chair

The range of events and activities on offer will enable children and their families to connect with local services and supports in a fun and engaging way.

The City is blessed with many fabulous facilities and services and this week will showcase many of the great things happening in our community.

From Kids CultureFest, a multi-cultural celebration through to a Teddy Bears Picnic, music, cooking and art there’s a broad range of activities to engage and entertain the children in our community.
