The City of Greater Geelong has partnered with The Gordon to provide hands-on learning opportunities for the City's first to fourth year apprentices and the TAFE's horticulture students.
For several years now, the City has hosted a yearly workshop that focuses on the delicate art of rose pruning.
The workshop not only imparts technical knowledge but also instils environmental consciousness. The apprentices were able to expand their knowledge in rose pruning as well as common rose pests, diseases and fertilising requirements.
Mayor Trent Sullivan
This is an incredible experience for the next generation of horticulturists. To be able to learn under the guidance of the City’s seasoned horticulturists is an experience the group will remember for years to come. Hands-on learning is invaluable for our apprentices.
By actively engaging our team of experts, the apprentices will develop a deep understanding of horticultural practices and foster a sense of pride in beautifying our city.
Councillor Peter Murrihy - Environment and Circular Economy portfolio chair
Investing in our apprentices and providing them with practical learning opportunities reflects our commitment to fostering a skilled and competent workforce. Our beautiful rose gardens become a testament to their dedication and expertise.
