City supports local health and wellbeing through Run4Geelong partnership

Monday, 26th October 2026

We’re bringing fitness, family fun and healthy living to the City of Greater Geelong Run4Geelong presented by Barwon Health Foundation, with a range of activities for the community to enjoy on Sunday 8 November 2026.

Now in the second year of its three-year naming rights partnership, the City will host a range of health and wellbeing activities at its race village activation, giving participants and spectators practical ways to support a healthier, more active and sustainable lifestyle.

The City’s Swim Sport & Leisure group exercise instructors will lead the pre-race warm-up to help participants get ready for the course. They’ll also be on hand at the City’s activation, where visitors can give exercise crank bikes a go.

The activation will have something for the whole family to enjoy, with race-ready face painting, a children’s colouring-in station and a spin-the-wheel competition. Prizes will include vegetable garden seedlings from Geelong Botanic Gardens, Better for Geelong compost bags, Swim Sport & Leisure free guest passes, drink bottles and magnetic weekly meal planners.

Visitors can also pick up fresh fruit, healthy choices fact sheets and recipe cards, and learn more about growing fruit and vegetables at home.

The activation brings together the City’s Swim Sport & Leisure, Waste Services, Parks & Natural Assets and Community Strengthening departments to showcase the connections between physical activity, healthy eating, community participation and sustainable living.

Last year, 6,750 participants took part in Run4Geelong, raising an impressive $323,000 for the Barwon Health Foundation.

Mayor Stretch Kontelj OAM said Run4Geelong was a great opportunity to bring the community together to support local healthcare and promote the importance of health and wellbeing.

Mayor Stretch Kontelj OAM

Run4Geelong is an opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to come together, get active and support Barwon Health as our largest local healthcare provider. Most of us have either used a Barwon Health service or know someone who has relied on its care, so it’s crucial to show our support.

We’re proud to continue our partnership with the Barwon Health Foundation, and in our second year as naming rights partner for Run4Geelong, look forward to welcoming even more participants and spectators on race day.

The City of Greater Geelong Run4Geelong presented by Barwon Health Foundation is on Sunday 8 November 2026, at Geelong Waterfront. Races include the Cleanaway Half Marathon (21.1km), Hanlon Industries 10km, City of Greater Geelong 5km, GMHBA 3km and Villawood Properties 1km Kids Dash.
