City's planning excellence highlighted in independent report

The planning framework for the precinct establishes a connected, liveable and sustainable community for future generations.
The release of the favourable report reinforces the City’s strategic planning approach, through a precinct that balances housing delivery, community infrastructure, open space, environmental protection and long-term economic growth.
The Creamery Road Precinct Structure Plan (PSP) represents one of the most significant future urban growth projects in regional Victoria, demonstrating the City’s commitment to planning communities where people can live, work, learn and play close to home.
Once developed, the Creamery Road Precinct is expected to deliver:
- approximately 4,200 new homes
- a future population of around 11,770 residents
- land for new government and non-government schools to support the growing community
- a new community hub providing early years, maternal and child health, family and community services
- an extensive network of parks, open space and recreation areas
- a centrally-located active open space reserve for organised sport and recreation
- protection and enhancement of the Cowies Creek Conservation Area, creating environmental, biodiversity and recreational benefits
- walkable neighbourhoods where the majority of residents are within convenient access of local centres, schools, parks and community facilities.
City of Greater Geelong chief executive Ali Wastie:
The findings provide strong recognition of the quality of planning undertaken by our people and the many experts and agencies who have contributed to shaping this precinct.
Great communities are created through evidence-based planning, engagement with community, long-term thinking and a commitment to ensuring homes are delivered alongside schools, parks, community facilities and transport connections.
The Creamery Road Precinct will provide thousands of new homes for future residents while also creating the recreational, educational and community infrastructure that families need to thrive.
