The
Council Plan 2025 – 29 has been officially launched at a community event at City Hall following its adoption by Council at this week’s meeting.
The Council Plan sets the strategic direction for the municipality over the next four years reflecting the community’s aspirations and aligning with the long-term vision of “Greater Geelong: A Clever and Creative Future” which was adopted in 2017.
It sets a clear strategic direction for the organisation: “We are committed to advancing community outcomes for a thriving Greater Geelong”.
A statutory requirement under the Local Government Act 2020 the Council Plan also connects with other key legislation and strategies guiding local government planning and performance.
The final document was shaped by extensive community engagement including surveys and a representative community panel.
At a time of significant regional growth and transformation the Council Plan focuses on infrastructure community health and wellbeing sustainability heritage and culture the local economy and good governance.

Council is continuing to deliver on its long-term 30-year vision and this plan outlines the next phase.
The Council Plan will now guide decision-making investment and service delivery across the municipality over the next four years.
