Cyber Incident: After-hours contact centre

Monday, 22nd April 2024
We have been notified of a data breach impacting OracleCMS who manage calls to our Customer Service Centre outside standard business hours.

When calls are received after hours, OracleCMS takes the call on our behalf which may include the collection of personal information such as the caller’s name, phone number, email, address, and the nature of the call.

At this stage, we have been advised by OracleCMS that no customer data has been impacted in this breach. OracleCMS have assured us that they are taking urgent action to contain and eradicate this threat, and OracleCMS does not have access to any City of Greater Geelong systems or data.

As a precautionary measure, we have instructed OracleCMS not to collect any customer information on our behalf until their investigation and remediation activities have been completed. We intend to maintain our after-hours call service during this time through other means.

We take the privacy of our customers very seriously. If any of our customers are impacted by this breach, we will take every step possible to ensure that customers are contacted directly and provided with guidance to minimise the risk of their information being misused.

Further updates will be provided as soon as we have more information from OracleCMS.
