Evans Reserve scores funding to plan future upgrades

Thursday, 25th June 2026

The City of Greater Geelong has committed $70,000 to support planning for future upgrades at Evans Reserve in Norlane, helping ensure the district‑level sporting hub continues to meet the needs of the growing community.

Evans Reserve is home to the Corio Bay Sports Club and features a large AFL oval, cricket wicket, two soccer pitches, a playground, a quarter basketball court, and BBQ and picnic facilities.

The new funding will support facility planning to identify priority upgrades and make sure future infrastructure is modern, safe and fit‑for‑purpose.

Corio Ward Councillor Anthony Aitken

Evans Reserve is home base to the Cobras, a very unique community sporting club, which has cricket and soccer teams and is an important hub for the Norlane community.

This funding provides for planning upgrades and development of advocacy work for future grant applications to State and Federal Governments that will support the sporting club and the whole community for years to come.

Cr Aitken said the council investment will be a catalyst to boost participation in sport especially for girls and women living in Norlane.

The Corio Bay Sports Club gives the community a place to belong, build friendships and develop their skills in soccer and cricket – we may even produce a future Matilda or Socceroo from Norlane.

This investment will help plan upgrades that support increased participation, changing community needs and the long-term growth of sport in the north.
