
Mark your calendars for Sunday 8 October as we invite the community to our Botanic Gardens Open Day - a day filled with free activities and entertainment amid the lush surroundings of our historic gardens.
This year's Open Day promises an array of engaging activities and displays that will captivate visitors of all ages.
Geelong Botanic Gardens will also host special interest groups such as the Australian Plants Society Geelong and Beekeepers Geelong. The day will offer visitors a chance to engage with enthusiasts and learn more about these areas of interest.
Geelong Botanic Gardens open day schedule
- 10:00am to 10:20am: Wathaurong Aboriginal Co-operative Welcome to Country & smoking ceremony
- 10:30am to 11:15am: Dazzling Dan the Magic Man Magic show
- 11:15am to 12:15pm (approximately): Friends of Geelong Botanic Gardens Guided tour *departs from front entry gate, top of Podbury Drive
- 11:30am to 12:15pm: Sweethearts Music performance
- 12:30pm to 2:00pm: International Nature and Forest Therapy Alliance Forest Therapy talk and walk *departs from front entry gate, top of Podbury Drive
- 1:00pm to 2:00pm: Andrea Robertson Duo Music performance
- 2:00pm to 3:00pm (approximately): Friends of Geelong Botanic Gardens Guided walk

In addition to this wonderful Open Day, the City is seeking feedback on how the Geelong Botanic Gardens will grow into the future.
The online survey is open now and closes on Friday 4 November 2023. Community members can also leave feedback on the virtual Botanic Garden Idea Board or can attend the Open Day on 8 October 2023.
Hard copies of the survey will also be available at the City’s Customer Service Centres.

We encourage community members to head along to this action-packed day. Highlights of the event include the Wathaurong Aboriginal Co-operative’s Welcome to Country smoking ceremony and ochre face painting, pot planting sessions with the Geelong Organic Gardeners, guided tours, and mesmerizing magic shows by the renowned Dazzling Dan the Magic Man.
With an array of food options and live music, there is plenty to see and do.
