The Grammar Jetty has been badly damaged by fire and is closed until reconstruction has occurred.

The popular fishing jetty on Foreshore Road, Corio has been damaged by fire and is no longer safe to use.

It seems as if a fire was lit on the jetty decking causing the deck to melt and the underlying wooden substructure to burn. Temporary fencing has been erected to help ensure public safety by restricting access.

The jetty will be reconstructed once the City has arranged the appropriate plans and approvals, secured funding, and arranged suitable contractors to undertake the reconstruction.

This may take between 6-12 months.
