Help us shape the future of our industrial land
The City of Greater Geelong is reviewing all land designated for industrial use and invites community feedback on the draft Industrial Land Supply Review report.
The Industrial Land Supply Review examines all current and future industrial land, measuring its economic importance and future supply. The review investigates how and if industrial land in Greater Geelong is being used in both established and new industrial areas.
The report is a vital tool for shaping our region’s economic future and we want to hear from you on key recommendations that will help the City balance growth with smart, sustainable planning.
Key recommendations include:
- establishing a new industrial framework or strategy
- facilitating the delivery of new employment precincts that can accommodate diverse industrial sectors as a key municipal economic development priority
- protecting core industrial areas from residential encroachment
- reviewing future policy on minimum lot sizes in the Geelong Ring Road Employment Precinct to better accommodate a broader range of businesses
- encouraging relocation of ageing heavy industry to prevent land use conflicts.

The findings will highlight the strength and growth of Geelong’s industrial sector, while also identifying areas for improvement.
The insights gathered in the review will help us understand the state of our industrial land and plan for the future so that our industrial areas can continue to thrive.
The manufacturing, energy, construction and logistics sectors are a core part of our local economy and account for nearly half of our total economic output.
