The Little Malop Street precinct has undergone a fresh facelift, delivering a cleaner, safer, and more inviting space in the heart of our city.

The Little Malop Street precinct has undergone a fresh facelift delivering a cleaner safer and more inviting space in the heart of our city.

Led by the City of Greater Geelong’s City Works team the project addressed a range of long-standing maintenance issues including:

  • deteriorated road surfaces on Little Malop Street and Downes Place;
  • dirty and stained footpaths;
  • misaligned and raised pavers creating trip hazards;
  • damaged planter boxes and bollards;
  • unsightly graffiti.

Improving Little Malop Street aligns with our goal of attracting more people to the city centre and supporting local businesses.

We’re focused on drawing more people into central Geelong to boost the culture and local economy.

I look forward to continuing efforts to revitalise and maintain vibrant public spaces to create a welcoming city centre.

City of Greater Geelong chief executive Ali Wastie

This is a great example of how small targeted improvements can make a big difference.

By enhancing the look feel and functionality of Little Malop Street we’re creating a place where people want to live work and spend time.

We also aimed to reduce the need for ongoing maintenance making this a smart investment for the future.

The City thanks local businesses and the community for their patience and support during the works.
