More than $1.25 million delivered to support community infrastructure

The City of Greater Geelong has awarded more than $1.25 million in Community Infrastructure Grants to support 18 community-led projects across the region.

The Community Infrastructure Grants program helps plan and deliver projects that increase access to places, spaces and services where they are needed most. They include open spaces, recreation and sports facilities, arts and cultural venues, community centres, early years facilities and meeting places.

Applicants could apply for up to $50,000 for planning projects or up to $250,000 for capital works.

Some of the successful recipients include:

  • Barwon Heads Arts Council – $14,170 for infrastructure to activate Barwon Heads Arts & Community Hub Maker Shed.
  • Festival of Glass – $242,000 for the Festival of Glass Studio: Flamework Glass Blowing Facility.
  • Geelong BMX Club – $13,492 for pavilion architecture: concept design proposal.
  • Geelong Pool Club Inc. – $250,000 for a club room extension.
  • Highton Bowls Club Inc. – $166,000 to upgrade bowling green.
