Much-anticipated stage two of North Bellarine Aquatic Centre takes shape
Council state federal and community representatives have come together to tour construction activities of the North Bellarine Aquatic Centre stage two facilities and check on how the project is progressing.
As development on the indoor pools continues a ceremonial sod turning was held yesterday with the project’s Community Advisory Panel and funding partners: Australian Government ($20 million under the Priority Community Infrastructure Program) Victorian Government ($20 million) and City of Greater Geelong (up to $300 000).
To ensure the safety of all users we have rerouted access to the beloved 50-metre outdoor pool through an alternate entrance. This measure will remain in effect until mid to late April when the facility will close until mid-October. This closure is necessary due to the high-risk construction activities taking place and the need to repurpose some of our plant equipment for the new indoor facility.
We will keep you updated on any disruptions ahead of time through the City’s social media channels the project page and onsite signage.
Expected to open its doors to the community in mid-2027 the indoor centre will boast:
- twenty-five metre indoor pool with eight lanes and access ramp
- warm water pool with access ramp
- accessible change rooms
- first aid room
- gymnasium and group fitness rooms
- foyer reception administration and office
- café with seating
- landscaping and pathways
- extended car park with accessible spaces
- refurbishment of the entry pavilion.

Locals across the Bellarine are excited to see construction of the stage two facility well underway.
This is a legacy project that together we have fought for – it will make a real difference to so many locals across the North Bellarine and I thank the state government and Alison Marchant for their contribution.
Stage two includes so many amazing facilities from a gym and cafe to the 25-metre pool and importantly the learn to swim pool – it’ll be great for families older people and so many people across the North Bellarine.

Construction is an exciting milestone for our community as we see this project come to life and deliver a fully accessible year-round aquatic facility for Bellarine residents.

We’re thrilled to see the indoor facility and pool hall take shape.
Stage two is set to broaden the use of this critical facility and ensure residents from Portarlington St Leonards and Indented Head never have to travel far to access aquatic facilities.
