Friday, 2nd October 2026

Queens Park Golf Course is set to undergo its most significant transformation in decades, with Clublinks and the City of Greater Geelong signing a new 21-year lease and operating agreement, securing the facility's future and unlocking a multi-million-dollar investment program.

Queen's Park Golf Course

Effective from 1 October 2026, the agreement will ensure that Queens Park Golf remains a publicly owned community asset while delivering approximately $2 million in private investment to enhance facilities, improve the golfing experience, and broaden recreational opportunities for the Geelong community.

The investment program will deliver upgrades across the golf course, driving range, clubhouse, and hospitality facilities, alongside the introduction of padel, one of the world's fastest-growing sports, to the precinct.

Deputy Mayor and Sports and Recreation portfolio chair, Eddy Kontelj:

Queens Park is loved by golfers, clubs, families, visitors and residents of all ages, and this is an exciting new chapter.

The signed agreement ensures that Queens Park Golf Course remains a publicly owned asset while securing significant private investment to improve facilities, create new participation opportunities and enhance the experience for everyone.

Barrabool Hills ward councillor Ron Nelson:

The City will retain ownership of the site, ensuring Queens Park Golf continues to serve the community well into the future," Cr Nelson said.

The upgrades will help create a more welcoming and accessible precinct for people to play sport and connect socially, and the sport of padel will be a great addition.

Clublinks Chief Executive Officer Anthony Lawrence:

We're thrilled to continue our established partnership with the City of Greater Geelong to revitalise Queens Park Golf Course.

The 21-year lease gives us the certainty to invest in world-class facilities, improve course conditions and create an exceptional experience for golfers of all ages and abilities.

Our vision is simple: to create a vibrant, inclusive space where everyone can play, laugh and connect.

These investments will not only benefit golfers but create a destination that offers broader recreation, hospitality and social experiences for the entire community.

What's coming to Queens Park Golf Course

Under the new agreement, golfers, members and the wider community can look forward to:

  • an enhanced golf experience
  • facility-wide upgrades across the course, driving range and retail space
  • a contemporary driving range expanded and enhanced with TrackMan technology
  • improved playing conditions through a long-term course renewal program and specialist maintenance services delivered in partnership with Fertool
  • a new fleet of 20 GPS-equipped EZ-GO golf carts
  • four new padel courts, creating Geelong's first dedicated padel destination
  • revitalised community spaces, including a redeveloped pavilion and clubhouse
  • upgraded retail, food and beverage and outdoor social spaces.

Planning and design work is expected to commence shortly, with procurement and construction anticipated throughout 2027, subject to approvals. The upgraded facilities are planned for completion in 2028.

As part of the agreement, Clublinks will take responsibility for day-to-day operations, facility maintenance and a staged course renewal program extending to 2039.

Upgraded community assets will ultimately return to the City at the conclusion of the lease term, delivering ongoing public benefit for future generations.
