We’re calling on Highton Belmont Wandana Heights and Ceres residents to share their memories photos videos newspaper cuttings views and local knowledge that capture their experiences of flooding.
This invaluable source of information will inform our Highton Stormwater Management Strategy to help the City and other authorities better understand and manage flood risk and stormwater quality impacts on our local waterways.
We want to hear from current and past residents property owners businesses and organisations within the Highton catchment area to help us determine:
- how flood waters behave in the area
- how and where flooding impacts the landscape
- what type and size of water infrastructure is needed to protect people the landscape and the natural environment
- opportunities to capture excess stormwater runoff.
Highton and Belmont residents in the neighbouring Waurn Ponds catchment will be consulted as part of a separate study proposed to commence later this year.
This study is focused on urban flooding rather than riverine flooding.
