Temporary road closure for High Street, Drysdale culvert upgrade
Tuesday, 30th December 2025
The High Street Drysdale culvert upgrade is being rescheduled due to matters that require additional planning with our project partners.
We will share an updated construction start date and expected completion timeframe as soon as it’s confirmed. There will be no disruption to traffic arrangements until works commence.
We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding while we work to deliver this essential drainage upgrade.

We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding while we work to deliver this essential drainage upgrade.
Part of High Street in Drysdale will be temporarily closed from late January to Easter 2026 while the City upgrades the existing drainage culvert near De Burgh Road.
Detours will be in place via De Burgh Road Princess Street and Eversley Street.
The project will deliver increased flood protection to upstream properties that are at risk during significant rainfall events.
This upgrade was not scheduled until the completion of the Drysdale Bypass to ensure disruption was minimised.
Mayor Stretch Kontelj OAM
This project will provide greater flood protection for residents in Drysdale ensuring the community is better prepared for future weather events.
Leopold Ward Councillor Trent Sullivan
The long-term benefits of improved drainage and reduced flood risk will be significant for the community. We understand road works and detours are disruptive and we appreciate everyone’s patience while these works are carried out.
