Workshops to assist in shaping Access and Inclusion Action Plan

Tuesday, 22nd August 2023

Both in-person and on-line workshops are on offer as we invite input into our Access and Inclusion Action Plan 2024-28.

The Action Plan is an opportunity for Greater Geelong residents to play their part in creating a more accessible, inclusive, and welcoming community for all by ensuring the City’s services and facilities meet the diverse needs of people with disability.

The Plan will be developed in consultation with people with disabilities, their families and carers, service providers and the Access and Inclusion Advisory Committee.

In-person workshops:

  • Tuesday 29 August, 10.30am - 12 noon at Eastern Hub, 285a McKillop St, East Geelong
  • Friday 1 September, 1.30pm - 3.00pm at Wurriki Nyal Civic Precinct, 137-149 Mercer St, Geelong

On-line workshops:

  • Tuesday 29 August, 5.30pm - 7.00pm

Community members can register to take part in one of the workshops and/or respond to an on-line survey by visiting Access and Inclusion Action Plan 2024-2028

The engagement closes at 5pm on Tuesday 5 September 2023.

Greater Geelong Mayor Trent Sullivan

The Action Plan will demonstrate the City’s support for the full participation of people in community life. The City is committed to working with residents to develop the new Action Plan.  It’s vitally important that we hear from people with disability, family, friends, carers and service providers, so I encourage everyone to consider attending a workshop in person or joining the on-line community workshop.

Deputy Mayor Anthony Aitken

We aim to be an inclusive, diverse, healthy and socially connected community, and contributing ideas through the workshops is an ideal way to build a community where everyone can fully participate.  The in-person workshops are at central locations while the on-line workshop is attainable to anyone who can access a computer, wherever they live within Greater Geelong.
