Refer to this table to determine which grant best suits your event.

Please use the table below to explore ideas and examples for your event and find the grant that best fits your needs. This is a guide is not a complete list, so be sure your application addresses each grant’s objectives and eligibility requirements. 

Community Events Grants
Grants for moderate sized (300+ attendees) public events that provide economic and community benefits to the Greater Geelong region; staged from 1 February 2026 and advertised to the public. 
  • Agricultural shows
  • Community festivals
  • Festivals: music, film, arts, children
  • Food and wine
  • Multicultural (for less than 300 attendances please consider Community Strengthening)
  • Public holiday celebrations e.g., ANZAC Day, Australia Day, New Year’s Eve
  • State or national sporting championships
Community Events Christmas 2025
Grants for moderate sized (300+ attendees) public events staged in November and December 2025
  • Christmas carol concerts
  • Christmas activations
Community Strengthening (formerly Healthy and Connected Communities)
Grants to support projects, activities or events that respond to a community need and promote inclusion and positive health and wellbeing within the community
  • Group milestone or anniversary celebrations
  • Multicultural and community celebrations
  • Religious and spiritual events
Environmental Sustainability 
This grant supports the initiation, development and delivery of projects that enhance our natural environment and drive environmental sustainability actions across the Geelong region.
  •  open days
  • expos and showcases


 

Ineligible for funding
  • Events outside Geelong
  • Ongoing, regular activities of a venue approved under a licence/tenancy agreement e.g., monthly markets, seasonal sporting events or other activities.
  • Events, that due to their nature, are unlikely to be supported by relevant stakeholders.
  • Invite-only or member-only events – this includes VIP events/areas which exclude other attendees.
  • Fundraising e.g., fetes, markets, fun runs, concerts, competitions where the primary purpose is to fundraise for a charity or cause.
  • Prizes, gifts, awards or sponsorship costs such as trophies medals money and vouchers.
