Point Lonsdale

The Point Estate, Point Lonsdale comprises a residential community set within an interconnected network of waterways, parklands and conservation reserve.
At the centre of the development is a winding, 5.5-kilometre-long tidally flushed waterway. This feature forms the focal point of the surrounding residential areas, open spaces, and conservation reserve. The waterway provides significant amenity for residents and visitors, while also supporting intertidal ecosystems along its edges and within the adjoining conservation areas.
The City assumed management responsibility for the waterway in May 2025. It is managed using an integrated monitoring approach that combines automated systems with routine on-site water quality testing. This enables real-time tracking of conditions, supports ongoing management, and facilitates timely responses to emerging issues.
In accordance with conditions under the federal Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act the City produces an annual water quality environmental monitoring report until the end of 2027. Reports can be accessed via the links
